CHARON-HPA

CHARON-HPA

The Virtual HP 3000

CHARON-HPA is a software solution that creates a virtual HP 3000 system environment running a 100% unmodified copy of MPE/iX 7.5. This is accomplished on industry standard Intel x64 servers running one of three supported Linux distributions: Fedora 20 (or below), Red Hat 7.0 (or below) and Ubuntu 12.10 (or below) or under VMware running on of the three supported Linux distributions as a guest operating system.

With the CHARON-HPA/3000 solution, you can securely transfer your HP 3000 to a state of the art environment. Our solution enables third party applications and user-developed software to run without any modification whatsoever.

HP recognizes CHARON-HPA software as a valid platform to run MPE, and CHARON-HPA passes the original MPE hardware qualification tests.

CHARON-HPA/3000 CONFIGURATIONS

The CHARON-HPA/3000 product family is a range of fully compatible virtualized HP3000 systems, running on industry standard Intel x64 (Core i7 and Xeon) servers. Virtualization technology takes advantage of technological advantages since HP3000 systems were built, translating PA-RISC instructions on-the-fly into optimized sequences of Intel CPU instructions. CHARON-HPA/3000 servers run 100% unmodified copies of MPE/iX 7.5, and allow you to restore your applications and third-party software onto modern, reliable, high-performance hardware, providing a “best of both worlds” solution. CHARON-HPA/3000 family performance ranges through A400 and A500 series equivalence at the low-end, to mid-range multi-processor N4000 series equivalence at the high-end.

LICENSE TRANSFER OPTIONS

HP MPE/iX License Transfer Keep your MPE/iX operating system supported with a transfer license from HP. These licenses allow the transfer of MPE/iX operating system licenses to servers running the CHARON-HPA/3000 environment, providing a continuation of the existing HP software warranty agreements. HP Services supports MPE/iX software on Charon products running on HP systems only.
